Child and Youth Program Leader – Retention Bonuses U.S. Navy Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR)Job SummaryThe incumbent provides specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years across one or more Child and Youth (CY) programs.Responsibilities include direct care, curriculum planning, mentorship of CY Program Assistants, ensuring compliance with DoD, NAF and local command policies, and maintaining a safe and engaging environment.ResponsibilitiesMentor – Lead and mentor CY Program Assistants; provide instruction and training to lower-level employees; support those completing Standardized Module Training; assist the Training and Curriculum Specialist with observation, charting, and professional development; recommend credential practicum candidates.Curriculum – Plan and implement activities that meet physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs; continually review and adjust activities; incorporate special instructions from parents; prepare program options for children with special requirements; set up displays, bulletin boards, and serve appropriate snacks or meals.Indoor & Outdoor Environment – Prepare, arrange, and maintain activity areas and materials; inventory equipment and recommend replenishment; secure supplies and facilities.Interactions & Relationships – Encourage participant interest; promote positive interactions; use approved child guidance and youth development techniques.Supervision of Children and Youth – Provide care, oversight, and accountability; maintain control and safety; manage departure with authorized persons; supervise daily activities, field trips, outings, and special events.Parent & Employee Communication – Interact professionally with employees, parents, and local command personnel; participate in parent conferences; brief other employees.Assessment – Observe developmental progression; document concerns; assist CY Program Assistants with assessment tasks.Compliance – Maintain standards for DoD certification and national accreditation; ensure compliance with laws, policies, and regulations applicable to DoD CY programs.Additional Responsibilities – Collect, maintain, and report program participation data; perform related duties as assigned.QualificationsKnowledge of developmentally appropriate programs for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years.Understanding of child and youth development principles, practices, and techniques.Skills to apply Federal and State laws governing child abuse and/or neglect.Ability to understand interests and motivation of individuals and groups in a CYP environment.Program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling skills.Leadership, mentoring, and guidance skills for CY Program Assistants.Emergency response proficiency and first-aid knowledge.Training skills for recognition and identification of childhood illnesses and child abuse.Curriculum development and lesson-plan creation skills.Effective oral and written communication in English and strong interpersonal skills.Minimum one (1) year of experience at CY-02 (GSE-04) level or equivalent.RequirementsThis position is a Test Designated Position (TDP).Pre-employment and random drug testing required.Full background checks including fingerprint, Tier 1 child-care background check, and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR).Pre-employment physical, immunization documentation, and evidence of communicable disease clearance.Applicable security clearance maintained.Required training certificates and relevant federal, state or national accreditation credentials maintained.Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer enrollment within the first 30 days.U.S. Citizen, 18 years of age or older.Academic or credential requirements:Completion of DoD Standardized Module Training and 12 months experience at CY-II (GSE-04).OR Child Development Associate (CDA) or Military School-Age (MSA) credential with 12 months experience at CY-II.OR a minimum 2-year degree in Youth Development, Child Development or related field with 12 months experience at CY-II.Provide copies of H.S. Diploma, GED, or College transcripts when applying.Additional InformationAll applicants must comply with Executive Order ***** regarding drug-free workplaces.A positive test for marijuana or any other tested drug results in removal from the offer and disqualification for 6 months.Installation Records Check (IRC) and related background checks are mandatory.Automatic disqualification applies for certain convictions or negligent civil adjudications involving children.Applicants are expected to uphold the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution, and embody the ideals of the American republic.#J-*****-Ljbffr
