.**Hitachi Rail** is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated **Traction and auxiliary control Engineer** who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in **Napoli, Italy.**- **Requirements Analysis & System Design** * Analyze input requirements to define **control architecture** and detailed specifications. * Model and simulate **propulsion systems** and **power converters** to optimize component sizing and topology selection.**Required Skills/ Knowledge** * Expertise in **vector control theory (FOC, DTC)** for electric machines.* Dynamic system modeling and simulation using **Simulink/Simscape**.* **Embedded & Real-Time Systems*** Proficient in **C/C++, Python**, and **Linux** for embedded systems development.* Firmware development: **microcontroller register programming**, **peripheral drivers**, and **interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, ADC)**.* **FPGA programming** using **VHDL** for high-speed control applications.* **Power Electronics & Electric Propulsion*** Strong understanding of **power converter topologies** (DC/DC, AC/DC, inverters).* **Communication Protocols & Standards*** **Software & Systems Engineering*** **Model-Based Design (MBD)** for control systems using **Simulink/Stateflow**.* ### **Additional Competencies:*** **Electric Machines:** Deep understanding of **PMSM, induction motors, and BLDC control techniques**.* **Testing & Validation:** Familiarity with **HIL/SIL/MIL** environments for system verification.* **Industrial Standards:** Compliance with **IEC *****, ISO *****, and automotive/railway safety norms**.Advanced knowledge of **automation control theory** and **real-time signal processing**.Experience with **real-time operating systems (RTOS)** and **Eclipse-based toolchains**.Knowledge of **electric/hybrid propulsion systems** and **electric machine control (PMSM, induction motors)**.Experience with **Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing** (dSPACE, Speedgoat, OPAL-RT).Hands-on experience with **CAN, Ethernet, MVB** buses and protocols (**J****, TRDP, TCN**).Knowledge of **functional safety standards (EN*****, EN *****, IEEE****)**.**Requirements management** with **IBM Rational DOORS**.Experience with **automated code generation** for embedded targets.**Fluent in English** (professional proficiency).Our people love technology – and they love making a difference.
