Hays Italy, part of the multinational Hays group, a company listed on the London Stock Exchange, which offers consulting services in the Information Technology sector with the aim of contributing to the success and technological progress of individuals and companies, is looking for aSystem Engineer ( full remote – Italy-based )to operate & evolve the company's Log Management platforms. The environment underpins business‐critical & regulated workloads, including legal / justice log streams & application observability; must remain resilient, secure & performant at scale. Field : national provider of cloud , hosting , domain registration , data center & trust services (including certified email / PEC )Key Responsibilities Operate & maintain the ELK / Kafka ‐based log ingestion & search stack, ensuring high availability , scaling & fine‐tuning (topics, partitions, shards, indices, ILM, retention) Proactively monitor capacity & performance ; analyze monthly reports & trends to forecast growth & prevent incidents Engineer & optimize Logstash pipelines, Grok patterns & parsing/transport paths; reprocess failed events & reduce parsing failure rates Implement patch management , address end‐of‐life scenarios & apply security fixes according to guidelines provided by the Security function Collaborate with application owners , Legal / Compliance & other Business Lines to align ingestion contracts, API usage & monitoring Contribute to delivery acceptance testing & handover , updating technical documentation & run books ( JIRA used for ticketing / workflow) Maintain observability dashboards & metrics ( Grafana / Elastic ) & improve alerting fidelityRequirements Solid hands‐on experience administering ELK ecosystems at scale, including Kafka / Zookeeper , Logstash , Elasticsearch cluster sizing & tuning Strong Linux systems administration ( Ubuntu , Cent OS / RHEL , Debian ) in clustered HA environments; working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012–2019 as needed Ia C: Ansible (roles, inventories, AWX) & Terraform for provisioning & drift control CI/CD & versioning: Git Lab Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Service Request) & ticketing via JIRA Clear technical writing for run books & operational documentationLocation : completely full remote – Italy-basedFreelancers are highly welcomed tooCandidates of any gender identity , after reviewing the mandatory privacy notice available at are kindly requested to submit their CV in PDF format, quoting the reference number (Ref. --- ).
