Hays Italy, part of the multinational Hays group, a company listed on the London Stock Exchange, which offers consulting services in the Information Technology sector with the aim of contributing to the success and technological progress of individuals and companies, is looking for aSystem Engineer (full remote – Italy-based)to operate & evolve the company's Log Management platforms. The environment underpins business‐critical & regulated workloads, including legal/justice log streams & application observability; must remain resilient, secure & performant at scale. Field: national provider of cloud, hosting, domain registration, data center & trust services (including certified email/PEC)Key ResponsibilitiesOperate & maintain the ELK / Kafka‐based log ingestion & search stack, ensuring high availability, scaling & fine‐tuning (topics, partitions, shards, indices, ILM, retention)Proactively monitor capacity & performance; analyze monthly reports & trends to forecast growth & prevent incidentsEngineer & optimize Logstash pipelines, Grok patterns & parsing/transport paths; reprocess failed events & reduce parsing failure ratesImplement patch management, address end‐of‐life scenarios & apply security fixes according to guidelines provided by the Security functionCollaborate with application owners, Legal/Compliance & other Business Lines to align ingestion contracts, API usage & monitoringContribute to delivery acceptance testing & handover, updating technical documentation & run books (JIRA used for ticketing / workflow)Maintain observability dashboards & metrics (Grafana/Elastic) & improve alerting fidelityRequirementsSolid hands‐on experience administering ELK ecosystems at scale, including Kafka / Zookeeper, Logstash, Elasticsearch cluster sizing & tuningStrong Linux systems administration (Ubuntu, CentOS/RHEL, Debian) in clustered HA environments; working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012–2019 as neededIaC: Ansible (roles, inventories, AWX) & Terraform for provisioning & drift controlCI/CD & versioning: GitLabFamiliarity with ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Service Request) & ticketing via JIRAClear technical writing for run books & operational documentationLocation: completely full remote – Italy-basedFreelancers are highly welcomed tooCandidates of any gender identity, after reviewing the mandatory privacy notice available at www.hays-itservices.it, are kindly requested to submit their CV in PDF format, quoting the reference number (Ref. ---).
