Postdoctoral Fellowship in High Energy Phenomenology

INFN, Sezione di Pavia, invites applications for a two-years postdoctoral fellowship in high-energy phenomenology under the project "Precision calculations for quantum tests of the SM and new physics searches", within the 2027/2028 INFN Fellowship Programme (Call No. 29216). The research activity will involve phenomenology for precision physics at current and future accelerators. The research will focus on processes for determining the hadronic correction to the muon g-2, precision determination of the luminosity of future leptonic accelerators, and Drell-Yan processes in hadronic collisions to measure the electroweak mixing angle and the W mass. It includes developing perturbative calculations, resummation of the dominant radiative corrections, and integrating them into Monte Carlo event generators used by experiments.
The phenomenology group in Pavia includes senior researchers as Carlo Carloni Calame, Mauro Chiesa, Guido Montagna, Oreste Nicrosini, Fulvio Piccinini andl PhD students.
Duration and financial support The fellowship is awarded for two years, with an annual gross salary of 36.000,00 euros. The appointment should begin no later than November 1, 2027; requests for a deferred start may be considered.
Travel to and from the host institution at the beginning and end of the fellowship will be reimbursed, and lunch vouchers will be provided for working days.
Eligibility non-Italian citizens holding a PhD or equivalent qualification from a foreign institution;
Italian citizens who, at the time of application, hold a position at a foreign institution and have been continuously abroad for at least three years.
Applicants must normally have obtained their PhD on or after November 12, 2018. Extensions apply for maternity, paternity, national service and long-term illness, as specified in the official call. Candidates completing their doctoral thesis may apply, provided they obtain their PhD by November 1, 2027 and before taking up the fellowship.
