The CrustHealth project at Libera Università di Bolzano investigates biological soil crusts as indicators of soil health across European climates. Field surveys, soil analyses, controlled experiments, DNA metabarcoding, metatranscriptomics, and bioinformatic analyses will be integrated to understand stressor effects on biodiversity and ecosystem functions.
The aim is to identify useful indicators for ecosystem monitoring and conservation and to contribute to international collaborative research
