Role Description:
The Lighting System Architect is responsible for designing, validating and promoting integrated lighting architectures within the GEWISS LightZone ecosystem. Reporting to the Sales Director, the role operates at the intersection of technical expertise, customer consultancy and commercial development, supporting strategic opportunities from early specification to project execution.
The position ensures that lighting solutions are not treated as standalone products, but as intelligent infrastructures combining lighting, controls, emergency lighting, IoT, connectivity, safety, energy efficiency, and digital services.
Key Responsibilities
Develop end-to-end lighting system architectures for complex and strategic projects.
Define lighting control philosophies, system layouts, integration logic and technical requirements.
Create scalable reference architectures and solution blueprints for priority vertical markets.
Ensure interoperability between lighting systems, smart controls, emergency lighting, IoT devices, sensors, software platforms, and third-party systems.
Validate technical feasibility, scalability, performance, and reliability of proposed solutions.
Sales & Business Development Support
Support the Sales Director, Key Account Managers, and Professional End User teams in strategic opportunities.
Participate in customer meetings, technical presentations, and executive discussions.
Lead technical discovery workshops to understand customer needs, operational requirements, and decision criteria.
Translate customer challenges into solution concepts, value propositions, and technical architectures.
Identify cross-selling and up‐selling opportunities across the GEWISS LightZone portfolio.
Technical Consulting & Specification Influence
Act as trusted technical advisor for consultants, architects, engineers, municipalities, developers, ESCOs, infrastructure operators and end users.
Support specification activities and influence project requirements through technical expertise.
Prepare system diagrams, architecture narratives, technical assumptions, and solution documentation.
Support value engineering while safeguarding solution quality, compliance, and long‐term performance.
Strategic Tender & Project Support
Support complex tenders with technical concepts, architecture validation, and risk assessment.
Review customer specifications and identify technical gaps, risks, or opportunities for differentiation.
Contribute to technical clarifications, compliance matrices, and solution documentation.
Support commissioning and validation of discussions where system integration is critical.
Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and evolving customer needs.
Provide structured feedback to Product Management, R&D, and Marketing on recurring project requirements.
Contribute to the development of new digital services, connected lighting applications, and vertical solution packages.
Promote best practices in solution architecture, interoperability, and system thinking across the organization.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Lighting Engineering, Telecommunications, Automation, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
Proficient English is required; knowledge of Italian, French, Spanish or German is considered a nice‐to‐have.
Minimum 7 years of experience in professional lighting, lighting controls, smart buildings, smart cities, infrastructure, IoT solutions, or systems integration.
Proven experience in customer‐facing technical roles supporting complex solution sales or strategic project development.
Experience working with consultants, designers, engineering firms, municipalities, infrastructure operators, developers and end users.
International project exposure and multi‐brand or multi‐technology integration experience are considered a plus.
