Brightsmith is supporting a renewable energy company to hire a Senior Grid Expert in Italy.The company develops, builds, and operates utility-scale solar PV and PV + BESS projects and is strengthening its Engineering & Construction capability to support a growing Italian portfolio.This role offers the opportunity to take a lead technical position in grid connection strategy and delivery, working at the heart of project development, construction, and long-term asset performance within a stable, fast-growing solar platform.What Makes This Role Stand OutAct as the main grid and interconnection expert for utility-scale solar projects in ItalyOwnership across the full project lifecycle – from early development through construction and operationsDirect technical interface with Terna, DSOs, EPCs, and key suppliersStrong exposure to PV + BESS and hybrid solutionsJoin a focused engineering team with high technical ownership and long-term responsibilityKey ResponsibilitiesManage grid connection processes forutility-scale solar PV + BES S projects across ItalyAct as the primary technical interface with Terna, Italian DSOs, and competent authoritiesPerform, review, and validate grid studies (load flow, short-circuit, dynamic and compliance studies)Ensure compliance with Terna Grid Code, CEI standards, and ARERA regulationsDefine and optimiseMV/HVconnection solutions, substations, and step-up transformersSupport permitting and authorisation procedures through preparation and review of grid-related documentationCoordinate EPC contractors, grid consultants, inverter suppliers, and equipment manufacturersAssess grid constraints, curtailment risk, and connection capacity during developmentSupport the technical integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid PV solutionsProvide grid-related technical support throughout development, construction, and operational phasesContribute to the standardisation and continuous improvement of internal grid engineering practicesWho We Are Looking ForDegree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred)•8–10+ years'experience in grid engineering with a strong focus on utility-scale solar PVProven experience managing Italian grid connection procedures end-to-endDirect experience working withTerna and/or Italian DSO s (e-Distribuzione)Strong understanding of solar PV plant architecture, inverters, and protection schemesHands-on experience with power system analysis tools (e.g. DIg SILENT Power Factory, PSSE, ETAP, PSCAD)In-depth knowledge of Italian grid codes, CEI standards, and ARERA regulationsStructured, autonomous, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneouslyFluent in Italian and EnglishBased in Rome, with flexibility for site visits and meetings
