JOB TITLE: Partnerships Officer

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Consultancy

UNIT/DIVISION: Nutrition, School Meals and Social Protection (PRGS)

DUTY STATION (City, Country): Rome, Italy

DURATION: 4 months (renewable)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: With over 60 years' experience in School Feeding, WFP has a trajectory of working with more than 100 countries to set up sustainable national school feeding programmes. WFP advocates for the universal adoption of school meals programmes as a safety net that helps increase children's access to education and learning opportunities and supports their health and nutrition. WFP focuses increasingly on helping countries to establish and maintain nationally owned programmes.

In countries still requiring WFP's operational support, it implements school feeding programmes with clear hand over strategies. In 2021, WFP supported the launch of the School Meals Coalition, and is hosting since its Secretariat. Demonstrating strong political engagement, the Coalition aims at ensuring that every child can receive a healthy, nutritious meal in school by 2030. Today, more than 110 member countries and around 150 partners are working together to improve the quality, sustainability and scale of national school meals programmes.

As a member of the School Meals Coalition Secretariat Coordination Team, the Consultant will join a multidisciplinary team supporting the coordination efforts across the Coalition's membership and partners, ensuring smooth communication and visibility of school meals programmes to attract policy support and commitment.

Through a "hands on" and "make it happen" attitude and by proactively sharing insights and ideas with the team, the Consultant will contribute significantly to rallying Coalition's members to advance school meal programmes worldwide and ensuring that every child receives a nutritious meal in school.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Coordinator of the School Meals Coalition Secretariat, the Consultant will be expected to support the timely and effective provision of coordination services and support the visibility and partnership efforts of the School Meals Coalition by: 1. Contributing to the organization of Coalition's webinars and high-level events, ensuring excellence in logistics, protocol and stakeholder engage
