Project Director – BESS Manufacturing | Italy - Hybrid work model

We are supporting a major industrial project involving the development of two BESS manufacturing facilities in Italy from the ground up.
We are looking for an experienced Project Director who can take overall responsibility for transforming this ambitious concept into a fully operational industrial business.
The Project Director will coordinate all technical, commercial and contractual workstreams while acting as a key interface between our client, its project partner, the Italian government, suppliers and contractors.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of two BESS manufacturing facilities
- Oversee the project from early development through construction and operational readiness
- Define how the facilities will be developed, structured and operated
- Select and manage suppliers, contractors and technical partners
- Oversee contracts, budgets, timelines and project risks
- Coordinate multiple technical and commercial workstreams
- Build the core team and organisational structure around the facilities
- Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, including project partners and government representatives
The ideal candidate:
- Deep technical knowledge of batteries and BESS technology
- Understanding of cell production, battery degradation, system performance and augmentation strategies
- Experience delivering major industrial, manufacturing or energy infrastructure projects
- Strong commercial and contract management capabilities
- The ability to assess the project from a complete 360-degree perspective
- Senior stakeholder management experience across complex, multi-party environments
- Professional fluency in Italian and strong knowledge of the Italian market
The project is currently progressing towards financial close, which is expected within the next few months. The successful candidate will ideally join early enough to influence the project before the main execution phase begins.
