The client:
Our client is a Series A company working at the intersection of AI, robotics, and high-performance computing. They're developing the core systems that power their robot's ability to process information, learn, and interact with the world in real time.
The role:
Build and scale the backend systems and APIs behind a humanoid robot's cognitive platform
Own real-time communication and messaging infrastructure (WebSockets, MQTT/NATS/Redis Pub/Sub) alongside distributed systems architecture
Manage containerised deployments (Docker, Kubernetes/Helm) and contribute to CI/CD automation
Work across NoSQL and SQL databases, with close collaboration across frontend, robotics, and infrastructure teams
Drive performance, reliability, and code quality through reviews and ongoing optimisation
About you:
Degree-qualified (Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience), with 2+ years' backend engineering under your belt
Deep Python expertise, including concurrent programming (asyncio, multithreading, multiprocessing)
Track record building distributed systems with WebSockets/Pub/Sub messaging and Docker
Comfortable with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, PostgreSQL) and Git-based workflows
Strong communicator and problem-solver, fluent in English
Desirables:
CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions), cloud platform experience, and Kubernetes
