The Regulation of Iron Metabolism Unit led by Dr. Antonella Nai at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, Milan, Italy (https://research.hsr.it/en/divisions/genetics-and-cell-biology/regulation-of-iron-metabolism.html) is mainly interested in dissecting the complex mechanism/s that control systemic iron regulation both in physiologic and in pathologic conditions. The latter include genetic forms of Hereditary Hemochromatosis and ineffective erythropoiesis as Thalassemias, acquired forms of anemia (as Anemia of Inflammation, Chronic Kidney Disease and Malaria infection) and metabolic disorders (as Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, NAFLD).

We are seeking for an enthusiastic and motivated post-graduate fellow to work on a project aimed at characterizing the relevance of energetic metabolism in erythropoiesis, with the final aim of identifying novel therapeutic targets and approaches for disorders with ineffective erythropoiesis, such as β-thalassemia.

  • Lead the research project with curiosity and creativity under the supervision of the PI.
  • Carry on in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro studies.
  • Implement novel experimental procedures and protocols.
