BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THIS ASSIGNMENT This 6-month home-based TDY serves to cover the position of WFP’s Global Family Liaison Officer, supporting the implementation of the Wellness Strategy and enhancing wellbeing for employees and their families worldwide. Reporting to the Head of Global Projects & HQ Counselling, the role focuses on developing family support programmes (including FLOCK), improving family-related policies and resources, strengthening peer support communities and social networks, delivering psychoeducation, and integrating family-related issues into WFP’s Psychosocial Risk Management framework. The position requires a licensed mental health professional with strong experience working with families, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and programme management in a multicultural and global context. Please note: Candidates will need to obtain their line manager's approval before applying. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT The United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. The core policies and strategies that govern WFP activities are: save lives in emergency situations; improve the nutrition and quality of life of the most vulnerable people; and to help build assets and promote the self-reliance of poor people and communities, particularly through conditional food for work and training programmes. The challenges of working in difficult conditions to bring much needed food and support to our recipients while inherently rewarding, can place a great deal of pressure and stress on WFP employees. As a part of a multidisciplinary team under the Wellness Service and through the implementation of the WFP Wellness Strategy 2025-2030, the Staff Counselling Unit is committed to the promotion of psychosocial and mental health in the broadest sense so employees can continue to function at high levels to meet the mandate of the organization. It is in the best interest of WFP to foster a sense of commitment to Wellness on the part of the employees, and a key part of employee wellbeing involves the wellbeing of dependents. • Increase managerial and organizational awareness and implementation of policies on leave, R&R, dual career policy on spouse employment, flexible working arrangements and others to mitigate potential conflicts between employees, WFP and families. Inherent in this role is to identify gaps in the existing policies and to design, improve and promote policies aimed at further developing a culture of care, enhancing social connection and family support;
