The opportunity
We are looking for a Civil Hydraulic Engineer to join our Power & Energy Services team in Rome or Rende. In this role, you will contribute to hydraulic and hydrological studies, analyses and design activities for infrastructure, industrial, energy and water-resources projects.
You will work closely with civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental and BIM specialists to integrate design solutions, and support technical discussions with clients, authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
How you will make an impact
· Hydrological and hydraulic studies: Develop studies for concept, detailed and construction design, including rainfall analysis, flood-flow assessment, hydraulic compatibility checks, and hydraulic and hydrological invariance assessments supporting flood-risk management.
· Hydraulic modelling: Develop one-dimensional and two-dimensional models of watercourses, natural drainage networks and drainage systems, using appropriate hydrological and hydraulic methodologies.
· Hydraulic infrastructure design: Design river-training works, hydraulic crossings, channels, culverts, attenuation basins, drainage networks, and stormwater collection and disposal systems.
· Technical documentation and data: Review topographical, territorial, rainfall and water-level data for quality and consistency, and prepare clear technical and calculation reports, specifications, drawings, quantity take-offs and permitting documentation.
· Coordination and delivery: Integrate solutions with multidisciplinary specialists, support site visits and construction activities, contribute to technical discussions with clients, authorities and relevant stakeholders, and ensure accurate, timely delivery in line with company health and safety procedures. The team around you You will be part of the Power & Energy Services team, working in a multidisciplinary and international environment across infrastructure, industrial, energy and water-resources projects. The culture: An inclusive, dynamic and innovation-oriented working environment. The projects: Multidisciplinary and technically challenging infrastructure, industrial, energy and water-resources projects. The opportunity: Continuous learning, professional development and collaboration with national and international specialists. What you will bring to the role We focus on the essential qualifications, skills and experience needed for success, while welcoming different technical backgrounds and career paths.
· A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or an equivalent qualification. A focus on hydraulics is preferred.
· Minimum three years of professional experience in hydraulic design, applied hydrology or water management.
· Sound knowledge of hydrology, river hydraulics, urban drainage, hydraulic modelling methodologies, Italian technical standards, and the principal requirements for hydraulic design and flood-risk management. You can prepare clear, structured and verifiable technical and calculation reports.
· Experience with hydrological and hydraulic modelling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA SWMM or equivalent tools; good AutoCAD skills and the ability to read and review technical drawings; and good knowledge of Microsoft Office and GIS tools, preferably QGIS or ArcGIS. Preferred: Experience with InfoWorks ICM, MIKE FLOOD, TUFLOW, FLO-2D or equivalent software; knowledge of Civil 3D, Revit and BIM methodologies for hydraulic infrastructure; and knowledge of MATLAB, Python or equivalent automation languages.
· Professional proficiency in both Italian and English languages.
· Operational autonomy, accuracy, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and a multidisciplinary mindset.
· Preferred: Experience in flood hazard and risk studies, floodplain modelling and mitigation design; experience designing water-supply systems, sewer networks, pumping stations or water-treatment systems; and registration with the Italian Professional Engineering Body.
