About the company
and the role We are supporting a deep-tech business developing electrochemical deposition equipment and processes for advanced semiconductor packaging. Based at its laboratory, cleanroom and workshop in San Martino di Lupari, you will work directly with engineers and international development partners to turn experimental development into qualified processes and equipment. This is a hands-on role with personal accountability for development schedules, budgets, technical risks and commitments to external partners. You will own a shared plan across microfabrication and electrochemistry, resolve dependencies and bring clear decisions to the CEO and leadership team. There are no direct reports in year one; from year two, the role is expected to build and lead the project management function as the portfolio grows. What you will do
· Own scope, milestones, budgets and critical paths across internal development and joint programmes with foundries, semiconductor assembly and test providers, and materials partners.
· Build and maintain integrated schedules in MS Project or equivalent, including baselines, resource levelling and realistic laboratory capacity. Coordinate experiments, metrology, sample flow and shared equipment through weekly planning and monthly re-baselining.
· Track spend on materials, external services, tooling and laboratory time. Maintain the risk register, assess technical dependencies and agree mitigation before milestones or budgets are compromised.
· Own customer and partner commitments, reporting, scope changes and escalations. Present monthly reviews to the CEO and leadership team with recovery options and the decisions required.
· Use experimental results to update the plan and follow development through to process qualification, with traceable data and decisions.
· Lead engineers across disciplines without line authority, establish practical project governance and develop the PM function as the portfolio expands. What we are looking for
· Degree in Engineering, Physics or Chemistry, plus at least 10 years personally managing technical development programmes. This should include ownership of schedules, budgets, risks and delivery outcomes while new equipment or processes were still being developed.
· Direct responsibility for development commitments to external customers or partners. Experience in semiconductor equipment or advanced manufacturing equipment is strongly preferred. Relevant backgrounds may also include complex equipment, surface treatments, coatings, wet processing, batteries or other demanding process development environments; chemistry or electrochemistry exposure is a strong plus.
· Technical credibility to interpret a Design of Experiments (DoE), discuss experimental evidence with engineers, challenge estimates and translate uncertainty into a realistic plan.
· Hands-on MS Project or equivalent, including critical-path analysis, resource levelling, baselines, risk management and change control. PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner or IPMA Level B/C certification is required.
· The relevant experience is in technical development: pure IT delivery, construction, installation or commissioning experience alone does not meet the programme development requirement. Semiconductor experience is preferred, rather than an absolute sector restriction.
· Experience combining Agile/Scrum for internal development with stage gates for partner milestones. Fluent written and spoken English; Italian is a plus. Willingness to work fully on-site in San Martino di Lupari and travel to partners. Why join and
how to apply
Help shape how a growing technology business plans and delivers development, working close to engineers, laboratory teams and international partners. The role suits an experienced technical project manager who wants to remain directly involved in planning and execution while building the function. Please apply with your CV and a short example of a development programme that slipped: your responsibilities, the action you took and the outcome.
