Verona, Veneto, Italia Verdalia Bioenergy Tempo pieno 50.000 € - 60.000 € Contratto
Role Purpose To ensure the reliability, availability, and integrity of the biomethane plant assets across all process stages (feedstock reception, anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading and injection, solid/liquid separation, nitrogen removal, digestate storage and compost/biofertilizer production) and utilities. The Service Manager is responsible for planning and executing preventive and corrective maintenance, managing spare parts and service contracts, and driving plant improvement initiatives, in close coordination with Plant Managers, the Performance team and the Technology department. The Service Manager will report to the Director of Operations and Maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Strategy & Planning: Responsible for defining and deploying the maintenance strategy of the assigned plants under the strategic direction of the Operational Director, including asset criticality ranking, maintenance plans per equipment class and annual/monthly maintenance schedules. Align planned interventions with the Plant Managers to minimise production impact and to coordinate planned shutdowns. Preventive Maintenance: Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance activities are executed on schedule and to standard across all process units (feeding systems, digesters and agitators, pumps, gas handling, upgrading units, compressors, injection/CNG stations, separators, N-removal units, compost line) and utilities (boilers, CHP, flare, electrical and control systems). Implement condition monitoring (vibration, thermography, oil analysis) on critical rotating equipment. Corrective Maintenance & Fault Resolution: Lead the response to breakdowns and failures, ensuring rapid diagnosis, prioritisation and repair to minimise downtime and gas losses. Perform root cause analysis on recurring and critical failures and implement corrective actions, escalating to the Technology department for complex troubleshooting when required. Spare Parts Management: Define and maintain critical and strategic spare parts lists and stock levels for each plant, balancing availability against working capital. Coordinate with the Procurement Department on purchasing, lead times and stock replenishment, and promote spare parts pooling across plants of the cluster. Service Contracts Management: Define technical scope and requirements for maintenance and service contracts (OEMs, upgrading and compressor service, electrical/instrumentation, specialised contractors) and support the Procurement Department and Technology department in RFQ processes and technical evaluation of offers. Monitor contractor performance against SLAs and KPIs, verify works executed and manage contract renewals. Asset Performance & Reporting: Monitor and report maintenance KPIs (asset availability, MTBF, MTTR, planned vs. corrective ratio, backlog, schedule compliance) in alignment with the objectives set by the Plant & Performance Managers. CMMS & Technical Documentation: Ensure all maintenance activities, failures, spare parts movements and costs are properly recorded in the CMMS / digital maintenance platform. Maintain up-to-date asset registers, equipment history, manuals and certifications. Maintenance Budget & Cost Control: Responsible for preparing and managing the maintenance OPEX budget and contributing to the maintenance CAPEX plan of the assigned plants; control costs, track deviations and support financial reporting and forecasting together with the Plant Managers. Maintenance HSE & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all maintenance works comply with internal and local/national health, safety and environmental regulations, including permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, confined space entry and work in ATEX zones. Ensure statutory inspections and certifications (pressure equipment, lifting equipment, electrical systems, fire protection, gas metering) are planned and completed on time. Third-Party Management: Supervise on-site activities of maintenance contractors, OEM service technicians and specialised providers, ensuring adherence to safety, quality and contractual standards. Emergency Response Preparedness: Organise maintenance on-call coverage and ensure the maintenance team and contractors are ready to respond promptly to critical failures and emergency situations.
