At Mercury, it is our duty to encourage and back our people to realise their vision of themselves.
We place them at the heart of what we do, providing challenging opportunities to develop within a great team in a supportive environment that allows them to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role
Establish, verify and maintain the project survey control network, including primary and temporary control points, benchmarks and datum levels.
Maintain an accurate survey control register with point identification, coordinates, reduced levels, descriptions, checks and revision history.
Carry out precise setting out from approved construction drawings and coordinated BIM models using robotic total stations and other suitable survey equipment.
Prepare and transfer setting-out data, coordinates and layouts from AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and approved federated models to field equipment.
Operate and support robotic layout systems, including SitePrint, for floor marking of equipment footprints, walls, openings, supports, penetrations, cable drops and other coordinated installation requirements.
Verify control, orientation and test marks before production setting out or SitePrint activities, and stop work where control or model alignment cannot be confirmed.
Undertake dimensional checks during construction to confirm the position, level, alignment, plumbness and tolerance of installed building and MEP elements.
Complete pre-installation and post-installation surveys for critical elements such as steelwork, equipment bases, holding-down bolts, openings, supports, containment, busbar and other coordinated services.
Carry out 3D laser scanning and reality-capture surveys to record existing conditions, construction progress and as-built installations.
Plan scanner locations, targets and control to achieve complete coverage, minimise hidden areas and ensure reliable registration to the verified project coordinate system.
Process, register, clean and quality-check point-cloud data, and issue coordinated deliverables in the project-required formats and manageable file sizes.
Compare point clouds and field measurements against coordinated BIM models and approved drawings to identify deviations, clashes and tolerance issues.
Prepare clear setting-out, dimensional-control, scan, deviation, verification and as-built reports, including coordinates, measurements, marked-up views, photographs and tolerance status.
Provide survey information to support redline mark-ups, construction records and as-built model and drawing updates, without taking responsibility for authoring the final as-built BIM model unless specifically assigned.
Coordinate daily survey priorities with the BIM, engineering, construction, QA/QC and subcontractor teams, and promptly communicate discrepancies, access constraints or missing information.
Upload survey records and deliverables to the designated Common Data Environment in accordance with project naming, status, revision and approval requirements.
Maintain surveying and scanning equipment in good working order, including calibration certificates, daily checks, safe storage, battery management and equipment logs.
Comply with all Mercury EHS policies and procedures and complete task-specific RAMS, permits, exclusion-zone controls and site safety documentation.
Undertake other duties associated with the role or reasonably required by the Company.
The Company reserves the right to vary the scope and nature of the Employee's normal duties to reflect changes in work practices and business requirements.
Essential Criteria For The Role
Minimum Level 7 qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
A minimum of 2–3 years' relevant construction surveying experience, preferably on complex building, data centre or MEP projects.
Strong practical capability with robotic total stations, digital levels and 3D laser scanners; experience with Leica, Trimble or Topcon equipment is advantageous.
Experience establishing and checking survey control networks, benc
