Position: PDF Annotation & Transcription Experts - Malayalam
Type: Contract
Compensation: $13/hour
Location: Remote
Role Responsibilities
- Source documents: find publicly accessible Malayalam PDFs with multimodal elements and record their sources.
- Annotate structure: identify and bound every meaningful region of the page and assign component types and reading‑order indices.
- Record relationships: link each region to its parent component through an identifier.
- Transcribe faithfully: reproduce all text exactly as it appears in Malayalam script, flagging illegible regions.
- Capture page metadata: document language, type, source, dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
- Review a colleague's work: experienced annotators review tasks end to end.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Native Malayalam speaker with full command of the script.
- Experience in annotation, transcription, translation, localization, or regional-language data review.
- Exact character-level accuracy.
- Systematic application of taxonomy across pages.
- Comfort with unfamiliar layouts like multi-column newspapers and handwritten forms.
Preferred
- Experience with regional-language AI data annotation, labeling, or bilingual evaluation.
- Skills in transcription and localization, such as MTPE, subtitling, or OCR correction.
- Document production experience: typesetting, copy‑editing, or proofreading.
- Knowledge of script and encoding: Unicode normalization, input methods, numeral-form, and character-form accuracy.
