In this role you will procure carrier services and optimize a global carrier base to deliver best-in-class transportation solutions. You will develop strategic carrier relationships and work closely with Crane account teams to align on service levels, capacity, and pricing. The position focuses on identifying new carriers, managing spend, and resolving issues to ensure reliable tender acceptance and execution. You will produce regular reports, support pricing decisions, and lead regional carrier reviews to drive efficiency and cost savings.
- Procure carrier services and optimize the carrier base to deliver effective solutions
- Develop and manage strategic carrier relationships, including executive-level engagement
- Identify and onboard new carriers; migrate non-strategic carriers to strategic roles
- Monitor and control purchased transportation spend for assigned carriers
- Coordinate with compliance to resolve carrier issues related to tender acceptance and service levels
- Lead or assist in problem resolution between accounts and carriers
- Identify capacity for difficult lanes and source suitable carriers
- Assist in confirming committed capacity and negotiating contracts and rates
- Liaise with account and accounting teams to resolve billing discrepancies
- Produce ad-hoc reports to support accounts, consulting, and other initiatives
- Support carrier rate negotiations for new and existing business
- Provide weekly and monthly management reports
- Conduct quarterly carrier business reviews in the assigned region
- Contribute to pricing strategy development and policy creation
- Research market growth information to inform decisions
- Develop and oversee pricing processes and policies
- Handle general duties within the scope of carrier management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to act with urgency and integrity in a high-pressure environment
- Self-starter with initiative and ability to learn quickly
- Experience in carrier management, logistics procurement, or related field
- Ability to negotiate rates and contracts with carriers
- Experience coordinating across cross-functional teams (sales, operations, accounting)
- Familiarity with tender processes and carrier performance metrics
- Ability to analyze spend and performance data
- Certifications may be required in some areas (unknown)
- Physical ability to perform job duties as needed
