Your Responsibilities

  • Grid feasibility and strategy. Assess grid capacity, voltage level, connection points, route options, network constraints, reinforcement needs and potential curtailment; recommend the most bankable connection strategy for each project.
  • Connection applications. Prepare, submit and manage complete connection applications and supporting technical data to Terna and the relevant distribution system operators (DSOs).
  • Italian connection process. Manage the full procedural path, including STMG review and acceptance, authorisation-status updates, POD and STMD steps where applicable, connection contracts, fees, deadlines and operator deliverables.
  • TSO/DSO interface. Act as the day-to-day technical contact with Terna, E-Distribuzione and other DSOs; lead technical meetings, clarification rounds and follow-up actions.
  • Grid studies. Define scopes of work and coordinate internal specialists and external consultants for load-flow, short-circuit, reactive-power, protection, harmonic and dynamic studies; critically review assumptions, results and mitigation actions.
  • Technical compliance. Ensure project compliance with the applicable TICA framework, Terna Grid Code, CEI 0-16, ARERA requirements and other relevant Italian and European grid-connection rules.
  • Connection design review. Review single-line diagrams and the concept/design basis for MV/HV connection assets, including substations, transformers, underground/overhead lines, protection and control, metering, telecontrol/SCADA, plant controllers and reactive-power systems.
  • Schedule, cost and risk. Maintain connection schedules, budgets, risk registers and decision logs; quantify impacts of grid works, network reinforcements, delays and operating constraints, and propose practical mitigation.
  • Cross-functional delivery. Coordinate with project development, permitting, land, legal, investment, finance, procurement, engineering and construction teams so that connection facilities, cable routes, substation land and authorisations remain aligned.
  • Transactions and investment decisions. Provide grid input to investment approval, project valuation, technical due diligence, acquisition, financing and divestment processes; clearly flag conditions, liabilities and residual risks.
  • Construction to COD. Prepare a disciplined handover to engineering and EPC teams, support detailed design and construction interfaces, and coordinate grid-compliance documentation, testing, energisation and GAUDÌ-related activities through COD.
  • Reporting and document control. Maintain accurate trackers, correspondence, portal records and technical files, and provide concise portfolio reporting to the Italy development leadership.

Our Requirements

  • Education. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience. Typically 5-8 years of relevant grid-connection, power-systems or renewable-energy project experience, including strong hands-on experience in the Italian market.
  • Project track record. Demonstrated responsibility for utility-scale renewable or storage projects in Italy, with direct involvement from grid screening/application through an advanced development, construction or energisation milestone.
  • Italian market knowledge. Practical knowledge of Terna and DSO connection processes, STMG/STMD documentation, TICA, the Terna Grid Code, CEI 0-16 and the relevant MyTerna/GAUDÌ workflows.
  • Technical capability. Sound understanding of MV/HV systems, substations, transformers, cable/line connections, protection and control, reactive power, metering, SCADA/telecontrol and grid-compliance studies.
  • Technical review. Ability to review single-line diagrams, grid studies, connection offers, design packages and consultant deliverables, challenge weak assumptions and translate findings into clear project decisions.
  • Commercial and project discipline. Ability to manage consultants, budgets, schedules, contractual/technical interfaces and multiple projects concurrently, with strong ownership and attention to deadlines.
  • Stakeholder management. Confident, constructive communicator able to work independently with network operators, authorities, consultants, EPC contractors and multicultural internal teams.
  • Languages. Fluent Italian and professional English, both written and spoken.
  • Tools. Strong Microsoft Office skills. Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS is preferred; exposure to DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E or equivalent power-system software is an advantage, not a prerequisite.
  • Mobility. Willingness to travel regularly within Italy; a valid dr
