Organizational Context and Scope

Under the general supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, the coordination of the Head of the Migration Management Unit (MMU) and the direct supervision of theProject Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the AVRR counselling and activities related to RI.VOL.A.RE in RE.TE.

Successful candidates will be deployed to the following Italian Regions: Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria, Campania, Lazio, Sicily, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Apulia, Veneto.

Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining contacts with local stakeholders involved in migration management, including municipalities, local entities, NGOs, reception centres and diaspora groups, with a view to facilitating the dissemination of information on Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR);

Support the organization and delivery of information sessions and awareness-raising activities on AVRR for local stakeholders, migrant associations, NGOs and reception facilities;

Provide information on AVRR and conduct tailored counselling sessions for Third Country Nationals (TCNs) interested in returning voluntarily to their countries of origin, referring complex cases to the relevant AVRR team;

Disseminate AVRR information materials and promote the use of the AVRR toll-free number in coordination with the Project Coordinator;

Assist beneficiaries in completing AVRR application forms and ensure that complete case files are transmitted to the IOM AVRR team;

Ensure proper filing and maintenance of documentation related to AVRR beneficiaries in accordance with established procedures;

Undertake duty travel as required;

Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

High school diploma with three years of relevant experience; or

University degree in Social Work, Cultural Mediation, Social Sciences, Psychology, International Relations, Political Science, Law, Education or other related disciplines from an accredited academic institution with at least one year of relevant professional experience.

Experience in providing social assistance, counselling, community outreach, case management or support to migrants, refugees or vulnerable individuals.

Experience working with NGOs, social services, reception centres, municipalities or migrant communities is an advantage.

Previous experience as a social worker, cultural mediator, community outreach worker or in similar roles is desirable.

Previous working experience in AVRR counselling is considered an asset.

Ability to work under pressure;

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint as well as Outlook is required.

Driving licence is required.

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in Italian and English is required (oral and written).

Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset.
