This Request is for the recruitment of one resource to join the Electrical Systems department.Mission:The role has a varied scope involving design, verification & support of electrical systems, power generation and distribution systems (including lighting systems), from initial concept through to supporting flight test and in-service operations, across a range of helicopter addition to supporting current helicopter programs, the department has a future strategy to support the development of more/all electric rotorcraft.
The position will allow to follow entirely the project, from the initial definition till in-service performances.
The role is within the Electrical Systems team, which is a part of the Airframe Department within the Engineering Directorate.Activities:The purpose of the role is to carry out engineering activities for electrical systems on current and future department is responsible for a broad range of electrical systems, as such the role has the scope for involvement with the following:
• Platform Electrical Power management: generation systems, starting systems, power conversion systems, distribution systems and batteries.
• Platform lighting requirements (emergency, internal and external) including use of Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS).
• Anti Icing and Deicing Protection systems.
• Electrical integration of several airframe systems (eg: ventilation, heating, ECS, hydraulics, fuel, rescue hoist, cargo hook, flotation, pitot, intakes, engine, APU, ...)Areas of responsibility will include :
• System architecture definition, design and analysis.
• Requirements capture, allocation, derivation, validation and verification.
• Preparation of technical specifications and other project documentation.
• Review of electrical design, including engineering drawings.
• Conduct presentations at technical design reviews.
• Preparation of test documentation and conduct integration testing.
• Participate in aircraft trials.
• Support test at the Electric Lab.
• Qualification and certification of equipment and systems.
• Technical management of internal / external suppliers.
• Supporting bid activities with future Customers.
RequirementsEssential:
• Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or a related field) required. Background in electrical subjects is mandatory.
• Skilled in electrical network modelling and Simulation tools software (Matlab, Simulink, Amesim).
• Detailed knowledge and experience in areas of electrical systems, eg electrical machines, inverter, converter, electrical storage.
• Project management responsibility and reporting to the head of function. Including scheduling abilities.
• Good English, written and spoken.
• Proactive approach, able to perform the assigned tasks with minimum oversight.
Desirable:
• Experience of aerospace engineering and operations.
• Experience of avionic Data Protocols (ARINC 429, AFDX, CAN BUS....)
• Experience of integration, qualification and certification of Electrical Power systems would be an advantage. Also in automotive or industrial fields.
• Experience of aerospace standards, e.g.
MIL-STD-704F, RTCA/DO-160G, RTCA/DO-178C, RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-311A.
• Experience of the challenges associated with unmanned systems.
• Knowledge in the development of system architectures would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of systems engineering tools for requirements management and system modelling, e.g. IBM Rational DOORS.
• Experience of managing personal tasks on time and within budget.
• Knowledge and appreciation of the full Systems Engineering life cycle and System Safety Analysis.
• Vision and Passion on future technologies in the following Fields: Aviation, Electric and Electronic.
• Ability to communicate equally across multi-functional teams, and with colleagues at all levels.
• Ability to take a proactive approach on your project, and in dealing with day to day tasks.
