Accountabilities:
- Cloud infrastructure cost management: Develop and maintain cloud cost allocation strategies, tagging frameworks, and dashboards that provide clear visibility into spending across teams, products, and features.
- Cost optimization and governance: Identify optimization opportunities through resource rightsizing, cloud commitment management, waste reduction, and anomaly detection. Establish alerts, regular cost reviews, and continuous improvement processes with Technology and Product teams.
- Financial performance and unit economics: Connect infrastructure spending to revenue and cost of revenue in collaboration with Data and Finance teams, providing reliable insights into gross margin, profitability, and unit economics.
- Infrastructure forecasting: Own rolling cloud infrastructure cost forecasts, incorporating customer growth, product usage, adoption trends, and architectural changes to anticipate future spending.
- Product economics and cost modeling: Partner with Product and Engineering teams early in the development cycle to assess the financial impact of new products, features, and architectures.
- Scalability analysis: Model how infrastructure costs evolve as usage increases, evaluating different growth scenarios and identifying the economic drivers that influence product scalability.
- Business case development: Build pre‑launch cost models, calculate unit and scaling costs, compare forecasts with actual production data, and contribute to pricing scenarios and product profitability assessments.
- Technology and Product resource allocation: Provide leadership with a reliable overview of resource allocation across major initiatives, including team capacity, fully loaded costs, and changes over time, supporting prioritization and R&D investment decisions.
- R&D funding and compliance: Maintain accurate time‑tracking processes and audit trails for eligible research and development projects supported by tax credits or grants, ensuring reliable documentation for reporting and justification.
- Workforce cost planning: Collaborate with HR and Finance to model the financial impact of Technology and Product hiring plans, including future payroll expenses and recruitment costs.
- Budgeting and scenario planning: Calculate the fully loaded cost of new hires and assess their impact on the profit and loss statement to support annual budgeting and financial planning.
- Hands‑on experience understanding, monitoring, and optimizing infrastructure spending across public cloud platforms or large‑scale hosted environments, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OVH.
- Strong knowledge of FinOps principles and practices, including cloud cost allocation, tagging strategies, resource optimization, commitment management, unit economics, and gross margin analysis.
- Technical credibility and the ability to engage confidently with Engineering teams on infrastructure architecture, resource consumption, and cost‑performance trade‑offs.
- Experience working with cloud billing data, cost‑management platforms, and analytical tools to identify spending patterns, investigate anomalies, and drive measurable optimization initiatives.
- Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills, with proficiency in SQL and/or relevant cloud cost‑management tools.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear financial insights, forecasts, and actionable recommendations for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across Finance, Product, Engineering, Data, and HR.<
