About the role

As a Field Service Engineer reporting to the Technical Service manager you will be in charge of delivering a high-level technical support on the assigned BD DS Technical Support related instruments and systems to the customer within the assigned region in order to guarantee customer happiness through an outstanding service and efficient proficiency in reported incidents and requests of the customer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training & Technical Knowledge: Complete all required training and continuous education programs. Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of BD instruments, systems, manuals, and service updates.
  • Field Service & Operational Support: Independently perform installations, deinstallations, relocations, certifications (IQ/OQ), repairs, and other service activities in line with customer SLAs. Plan customer visits, coordinate logistics, ensure availability of tools and spare parts, execute services, document results, and verify system performance. Escalate unresolved issues to technical specialists and work toward defined service performance metrics.
  • Remote Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues remotely when not handled by the help desk. Escalate complex issues when immediate resolution is not possible to minimize customer disruption.
  • Corrective Actions & Preventive Maintenance: Plan and execute upgrades, field corrective actions, and preventive maintenance activities according to regulatory requirements and defined timelines.
  • Pre-Installation Assessments: Evaluate customer site readiness for new instrument installations. Document findings, communicate requirements, and guide customers on necessary preparations to ensure successful implementation.
  • Administrative Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate planning, reporting, and service documentation. Update service management systems with all relevant operational and technical information to support efficient planning, dispatching, and capacity management.
  • Inventory & Asset Management: Maintain vehicle stock of spare parts and tools according to company guidelines to ensure readiness for field service activities.
  • Customer Relationship Management & Opportunity Identification: Deliver high-quality after-sales support, monitor customer satisfaction, identify customer needs, and recommend appropriate solutions. Communicate business opportunities and customer feedback to relevant internal teams.
  • Issue Escalation: Escalate customer issues through established processes when immediate resolution is not possible, ensuring timely and effective problem resolution.
  • Quality, Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with BD quality standards, ISO, GMP, safety regulations, and customer service agreements. Consistently deliver services that meet regulatory and company quality requirements.
REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Good level of English – A2 or B1
  • High School/Diploma or Bachelor's degree in electronic or electrical technology or biotechnology certification
  • High motivation
  • Availability to travel 100% of your time.
  • Two or more years of experience in the Technical Service of Medical Device Companies.
  • Instrumentation Blood Analysis (Liquids) experience would be an asset.

  • Territory coverage: Lombardia, Piemonte, Emilia Romagna, Valle d'Aosta, Toscana e Triveneto.

Salary budget for this position is: 32k- 42k CCNL Chimico Farmaceutico

Salary Range Information €32,100.00 - €51,375.00 EUR Annual
