The activity covered by this contract consists predominantly of teaching, supplementary teaching, and research activities, for a total of 1,500 hours per year, on topics within the scope of the SSD MVET-04/B, as required for the role of RTT. The research activity will focus on the study of endocrine diseases in small animals, with particular emphasis on veterinary clinical endocrinology. The scientific activity will be aimed at advancing the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the most common endocrinopathies, as well as developing and validating innovative diagnostic approaches and optimizing therapeutic strategies through prospective and retrospective clinical studies conducted within national and international collaborative networks. Particular attention will be devoted to translational research aimed at identifying and validating clinical and laboratory biomarkers, evaluating the diagnostic performance of endocrine tests, and developing predictive models and clinical decision-support tools based on advanced statistical methods and machine learning algorithms. Research activities will also explore the application of innovative technologies for the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of endocrine and metabolic diseases in companion animals.
Teaching activities
The scope of the teaching and training activities that the candidate will be required to carry out concerns Veterinary Clinical Medicine, within the types of training activities of the SSD MVET-04/B, delivered in the Veterinary Medicine Master Degree (LM-42), as well as in post-graduate training courses (PhD, University Masters, Specialization Schools, Advanced Training Courses) pertaining to the Department or the University.
The overall teaching commitment will be provided as frontal teaching, supplementary teaching, practical teaching and student tutoring, and will also derive from certified clinical-assistance activities at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Teaching may include lectures, practical training, student tutoring, participating in examination and thesis defense panels, on the subjects and topics covered by the contract. Teaching for up to 120 hours is required, according to university regulations.
