As Team Lead, Engineering at Deel, you will guide a cross-functional squad to deliver scalable Node.js applications and strong engineering practices. You’ll balance hands-on coding with team leadership to ship impactful features that improve the global payroll platform. You will mentor engineers, drive technical strategy, and ensure high-quality delivery in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role offers a chance to shape how Deel scales its engineering culture and product excellence.

- Lead a 6-10 person cross-functional team, splitting time between leadership and hands-on work
- Design, implement, and ship scalable applications using Node.js
- Mentor team members and uphold coding standards through rigorous code reviews
- Drive best practices in development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with product and design to deliver strong user experiences
- Plan technically, balance short-term delivery with long-term system health
- Promote Agile methodologies and cross-team collaboration
- Define technical strategies aligned with business goals and mitigate risks
- Contribute to hiring, performance management, and fostering an inclusive engineering culture
- Represent the team in cross-functional discussions and drive alignment on technical requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with OOP
- Experience designing maintainable, scalable systems
- Ability to write clean, testable code
- Strong SQL skills and complex query writing
- Experience with APIs and distributed systems
- Proven debugging, root cause analysis, and incident handling in production
- Leadership experience balancing vision and details, collaboration, and learning
- Bonus: cross-browser/cross-platform development, Node.js/JavaScript familiarity
