Legal Manager
Position purpose:
Working closely with the Legal Director, the Legal Manager advises functions and stakeholders on complex and strategic legal and business matters including:
- Leading and managing complex national and international contractual frameworks, incl negotiations if needed;
- High-impact legal and regulatory matters, including portfolio specific regulations, Competition Law, Privacy and Consumer Protection;
- Management of disputes and pre-litigation/litigation activities, contributing to risk mitigation and alignment with the overall legal strategy.
What will you do – responsibilities:
- Applies business acumen to legal and regulatory advice to support optimal commercial outcomes; provides advanced regulatory assessments aligned with strategic priorities; identifies opportunities while ensuring sound risk management; effectively tailors advice to different audiences, including local ExCom or other senior management where appropriate.
- Manages complex contractual frameworks (including high-volume agreements and/or contracts with strategic suppliers and partners); structures agreements to optimize risk allocation and commercial outcomes; leads or significantly contributes to negotiations if needed, ensures stakeholder management.
- Supports or leads the management of disputes and pre-litigation/litigation matters, including monitoring developments, identifying risks, gaps and opportunities; instructs and challenges external counsel, ensuring cost control and alignment with the overall legal strategy. Monitors and evaluates regulatory developments / trends as well as upcoming legislation on both national and EU level, anticipating impacts on business operations / organizational structure
- Leads or manages selected projects (within or beyond the legal function) end-to-end, including stakeholder management and, where relevant, team coordination; acts as legal focal point (FPOC) on selected cross-functional or strategic initiatives.
- On project base, drives the design and continuous improvement of compliance frameworks, ensuring alignment with evolving legal and regulatory requirements while maintaining a pragmatic, business-oriented approach
- Shares knowledge and supports team development, contributing to capability building within the Legal Team and fostering stronger business understanding.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate seamlessly across functions and within the organization and outside where needed.
Who are we looking for – requirements
- Law Degree from an accredited university and identified as qualified lawyer.
- Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience, including in-house experience in a multinational company or a reputable FMCG business (or equivalent), and/or solid experience in a well-regarded commercial law firm advising multinational companies and FMCG clients.
- Proficiency in MS Office; AI-affine and open to exploring new technologies.
- Business acumen and ability to tailor legal advice to different audiences.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, Italian as primary language
