Job Summary
As a sales associate you will be the face of our company, highlighting our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will assist customers and help them recognize the need for our products and services. You must be capable of learning about what we sell and be able to articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, professional manner. A positive and outgoing nature that enjoys serving others and making a positive impact on the organization is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
- Ask questions and listen to customer’s needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers and STAR card.
- Provide premier customer service.
- Build positive, inclusive, respectful relationships and take accountability for own actions and outcomes.
- Maintain store appearance.
- Cross‑sell products and be familiar with store layout.
- Suggest latest trends and current promotions based on individual customer needs.
- Upsell products.
- Learn product features and keep up with the latest trends, leveraging company tools and technology to provide confident product knowledge.
- Use a point‑of‑sale system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and cash handling, including counting money and returning accurate amounts.
- Complete various paperwork, reports and reconciliation.
- Manage inventory: complete all inventory processes and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed; may participate in periodic inventories.
- Adhere to assigned work schedule and complete tasks accurately and on time.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of products and merchandise.
- Retail experience preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management; communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.
- Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Reasoning ability: multilaterally multitask while remaining attentive to customers and flexible to business needs; work as part of a team, take initiative independently of direct supervision.
- Enthusiastic, friendly and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; no experience required.
Physical Demands
This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. It may occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Lifting of at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs in some departments is required. Work is typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending on location.
Work Hours
Available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Additional Information
No experience required. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
