Operational Information Management (OIM)
The Operational Information Management (OIM) function plays a critical role in maintaining a common operational picture of WFP operations by ensuring the timely, accurate, and coherent flow of strategic and operational information across the organization. Following the realignment of reporting lines between Country Offices (COs) and the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer (DED&COO), the global OIM function has been positioned to strengthen information exchange between Global Headquarters and the field, support a unified executive voice, and enable evidence-based decision-making. The function is responsible for coordinating, consolidating, and managing operational information flows, ensuring WFP leadership has access to a consistent and comprehensive understanding of operations while enhancing coherence, reducing duplication, and supporting effective internal and external messaging.
Lead the development and institutionalization of OIM governance frameworks, including standards, workflows, guidance, quality assurance mechanisms, and best practices to support coherent information flows across WFP.
# Manage the production and dissemination of key operational information products, including consolidation and release of the Daily Operational Brief (DOB), development of strategic operational messaging, and synthesis of global operational information into concise, actionable insights for leadership and internal audiences.
# Lead the design, continuous improvement and delivery of OIM tools, templates, training materials and procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving operational needs, field requirements, and corporate standards.
# Manage and enhance OIM digital platforms and systems, including OPweb, OIMS, and related solutions, ensuring effective governance, usability, analytics, integration and performance.
# Promote innovation, automation and the use of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to improve efficiency, strengthen analysis and reduce duplication across OIM processes. Manage OPSCEN information and coordination services, including oversight of the OPSCEN mailbox and support to the OPSCEN room as a corporate space for coordination and engagement, including basic management of IT equipment.
# Coordinate and support information management during emergencies, including leading the production of information products, providing surge support, and deploying technical expertise to country offices as required.
# Strengthen the global OIM network through collaboration, workforce development and stakeholder engagement, including onboarding new staff and ensuring strategic alignment across functions and levels of the organisation.
The Daily Operational Brief (DOB) is a daily summary of key operational developments, compiled from overnight Country Office reporting and released to WFP Senior Management at 08:00 each weekday.
