Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change
The CMCC Foundation (Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change) is an international, independent, multi-disciplinary research center that studies the interaction between climate change and society.
We produce advanced climate research developing cross-cutting and multidisciplinary analyses and data that combine first-class climate modeling with climate change impact modeling and environmental economics.
Our activities aim to ensure reliable, rigorous, and timely scientific results that stimulate sustainable growth, protect the environment, and develop science-driven adaptation and mitigation policies in a changing world.
We deliver the crucial scientific insight needed for a successful transition to a sustainable future by providing foresight and quantitative analysis on our future planet and society.
We are among the world leaders and reference points in advanced scientific research, integrating all aspects of
social, economic, and environmental systems affected by climate change.
CMCC organizes its research activities through a structure that allows the collaboration and interaction of expertise from the multiple disciplines involved in research and decision-making processes aimed at finding answers to the challenges that will characterize the coming decades.
This organization of research ensures an interdisciplinary dimension that makes CMCC a unique global player in climate studies and enables the center to work on the entire climate research chain, as well as on social, economic, and technological dimensions.
CMCC Foundation has obtained the “Equivalency Determination” qualification, meaning that the entity is considered as the equivalent of a U.S 501(c)(3) public charity in the reception and allocation of charitable donations.

Job Description
CMCC Position cod. 12839 - Impact Modeller - Climate Risks, Energy Systems and Socio-Economic Resilience
Deadline: September 15th, 2026
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking two outstanding/ambitious mid-level researchers with a strong track record in climate impact modelling, environmental systems modelling, integrated assessment, or related disciplines to join the European Institute on Economics and the Environment (EIEE) at the CMCC Foundation in Milan, Italy.
The successful candidates will contribute to the scientific development of next-generation climate impact modelling frameworks supporting climate adaptation, energy transitions, and resilience planning across vulnerable regions worldwide.
The position focuses on understanding how climate change propagates through interconnected human and natural systems, affecting energy systems, water resources, ecosystems, food production, infrastructure, and socio-economic development. The successful candidate will lead the development of integrated modelling approaches capable of translating climate hazards into actionable information for decision-makers and supporting evidence-based adaptation strategies.
A particular emphasis will be placed on modelling climate impacts across interconnected human and natural systems, including water resources, energy systems, food systems, biodiversity, and ecosystem services, integrating Earth system information with impact models, socio-economic analysis, artificial intelligence, and decision-support tools to support climate adaptation, resilience, and sustainable development.
The successful candidates will play a leading role in shaping a new generation of modular, scalable, and policy-relevant impact modelling frameworks, working within interdisciplinary teams spanning climate science, engineering, economics, AI, and environmental systems analysis.
Beyond scientific research, the position offers the opportunity to coordinate international research activities, supervise junior researchers and PhD students, contribute to strategic project development, and help shape the future research agenda of EIEE in climate impacts, adaptation, and resilience.
