A leading mechanical and electrical engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Regional EHS Manager to provide strategic leadership and oversight of Environmental, Health & Safety performance across multiple projects in Italy.

This is a senior regional position, responsible for supporting project and operational teams, maintaining high standards of EHS compliance, and driving a strong and proactive safety culture across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic EHS leadership and support across multiple projects throughout Italy.
  • Lead and support regional EHS teams, ensuring consistent standards and best practice.
  • Monitor EHS performance, including KPIs, audits, incidents, inspections and compliance.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the company’s EHS Management System across all projects.
  • Lead serious incident investigations and oversee corrective and preventative actions.
  • Carry out regional audits and inspections, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide expert EHS guidance to operational leadership, project teams, clients and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Develop and deliver EHS initiatives, training programmes and safety improvement strategies.
  • Support tenders, client engagements and prequalification activities from an EHS perspective.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients and other key stakeholders when required.
  • Promote a positive, proactive safety culture and ensure EHS remains embedded within day-to-day project delivery.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma (Level 8 or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience within EHS, ideally gained across construction, engineering, electrical, mechanical or other technically complex environments.
  • Previous experience in a senior EHS leadership position, with responsibility for multiple projects, sites or locations.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, Construction Regulations and CDM requirements.
  • Proven experience managing audits, incident investigations and EHS management systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and report-writing skills.
  • Professional EHS membership such as IOSH, or equivalent, would be advantageous.
  • Ability to influence, coach and engage effectively with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • Willingness to travel across Italy as required.
