Nerviano, Lombardia, Italia TXT Group Tempo pieno

TXT e-Tech, a company within the TXT Group, is seeking an AI & Systems Engineer to join its Aerospace & Aviation Business Unit.

The selected candidate will be involved in the study, development, and integration of algorithms for avionics systems, working within a multidisciplinary team focused on Artificial Intelligence, Modeling, Simulation, and Performance Analysis.

The initial activities will focus on the integration of Reinforcement Learning (RL) agents, already developed and trained in Python, into MATLAB/Simulink simulation environments. Depending on project needs, the role may also include Computer Vision and Image Processing activities, leveraging both traditional and AI-based approaches for object detection and tracking from infrared imagery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate Reinforcement Learning agents and trained models into MATLAB/Simulink simulation environments.
  • Conduct testing and validation activities to assess agent behavior and compare performance across different simulation scenarios.
  • Contribute to the enhancement, training, and optimization of existing algorithms and solutions.
  • Participate, according to project requirements, in the development of image processing, object recognition, and target tracking algorithms using both classical and AI-driven techniques.
  • Develop software tools for test execution, data analysis, and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the team on interface definition, system integration activities, and the preparation of technical documentation.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Solid mathematical foundation, including knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
  • Programming skills and proficiency in Python for algorithm development and experimentation.
  • Academic, personal, or professional experience in at least one of the following areas: Reinforcement Learning, or Computer Vision and Image Processing, using either traditional or AI-based approaches.
  • Interest in modeling and simulation, with the ability to connect algorithmic behavior to system-level performance.
  • Basic knowledge of optics, sensors, or infrared imaging.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ and/or Linux environments.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.

We welcome candidates with backgrounds primarily focused on either Reinforcement Learning or Image Processing, combined with a genuine interest in expanding their expertise into the complementary domain.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink for modeling, simulation, and algorithm integration.
  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience with tools and frameworks including Stable-Baselines, Gymnasium, Optuna, or Hydra.
  • Familiarity with integrating software components and models across Python and MATLAB/Simulink environments.
  • Knowledge, including academic exposure, of target tracking algorithms and estimation techniques such as the Kalman Filter.
  • Basic understanding of signal processing, sensors, and infrared imaging systems.

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline, such as: Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence

Soft Skills:

The ideal candidate is curious, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative team environment. They demonstrate a strong engineering mindset, with an interest in understanding complex problems, translating them into models and algorithms, and validating their behavior through simulations and experimental activities. They approach their work with rigor, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering results in line with agreed objectives and timelines.

What We Offer:

  • Career growth opportunities within a fast-growing and evolving company operating in an international and dynamic environment.
  • Continuous and structured training programs, both technical and transversal, tailored to project needs. Development plans are personalized together with managers based on individual skills, interests, and career aspirations.
  • Corporate benefits, including health insurance, welfare programs, meal vouchers, and employee discounts available within the Group.
  • Team-building initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration, team cohesion, and a positive work environment.
  • Annual gross salary ranging between €28,000 and €34,000.
  • Employment level and contractual framework will be defined during the selection process based on the candidate's profile and in accordance with the Italian Metalworkers' Collective Labor Agreement (CCNL Metalmeccanico).
