Offer Description

Advancing 3D robotic perception by developing panoptic segmentation algorithms that integrate data streams from LiDAR, Radar, and cameras. The developed algorithms may leverage Vision-Language Models (VLMs) to achieve open-vocabulary segmentation, enabling robots to reliably detect dynamic objects in unstructured environments. Activities will take place within the framework of the EXCEED-AIR collaborative seed project on "Robust Perception and Situational Awareness".

Objectives:

  • Develop efficient VLM architectures capable of multimodal sensor fusion under adverse sensing conditions.
  • Evaluate models on standard datasets and experimental robotic platforms.
  • Publish results in prestigious robotics and computer vision journals and/or conferences, and release open-access, FAIR-compliant code and benchmarks via the EXCEED-AIR Virtual Joint Lab platform.
