In this role you advance Quantum Science and Technology (QST) to enhance Alliance maritime capabilities. You join the MUSE team within CMRE’s Research Division to shape security scenarios, conduct QST experiments, and publish findings. You will collaborate with international partners, contribute to NATO workshops, and support cross-program work on climate, ASW, and data-enabled operations. Your work will combine cutting-edge quantum optics and sensing with practical defence applications, delivering impactful science for real-world security challenges.

- Advance the MUSE PoW by investigating QST impacts on maritime capabilities
- Conduct research on security scenarios using quantum optics, photonics, and quantum sensing
- Publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals or internal reports
- Organise and contribute to NATO workshops/conferences and participate in multi-national projects related to QST
- Collaborate with CMRE projects outside MUSE (Climate Change and Security, ASW, Data-Environmental Knowledge and Operational Effectiveness)
- Proven expertise in QST applications for underwater/maritime security or defence
- Experience in QST experimental activities in labs and field, focusing on quantum communications and photonics
- Experience in free-space/underwater quantum optics in research settings
- Strong research methodologies and experimental design knowledge
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
