Join Kong's AI Gateway team to shape a secure, high-performance gateway that connects enterprises with generative AI. You will own core backend components, optimize for uptime and low latency, and guide architecture and technical debt management. You’ll work across product, engineering, and cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into robust AI integration solutions at scale. This role offers a meaningful impact on developer experience and AI service reliability, with opportunities to mentor others and influence the road map. Your work will directly support faster, safer AI innovation for customers.

- Design and own core components of the AI Gateway ensuring near-constant uptime and low-latency AI traffic handling
- Lead feature implementation for prompt engineering, caching, and observability with clean Golang and/or Python code
- Influence roadmap and architecture, mitigating technical debt for long-term scalability
- Architect integrations with multiple LLMs and AI platforms, shaping API management for AI
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design discussions to foster excellence
- Drive full development lifecycle from ideation to deployment and operation in a Kubernetes environment
- Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to translate customer requirements into technical solutions
- Extensive backend development experience in Golang and/or Python
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and API design principles
- Experience deploying services in cloud-native environments (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Familiarity with API gateways, service mesh, or related infrastructure technologies
