In this role you will define and govern ABB’s enterprise-wide application architecture to ensure coherent evolution of the application landscape while preserving unit autonomy. You will set guardrails, target states, and decision frameworks to support modularity, lifecycle management, and business capability alignment. The role emphasizes collaboration with business and IT to manage the enterprise portfolio and guide cross-domain decisions. This is a strategic position focused on architecture governance, modernization, and scalable solutions across ABB.

- Direct enterprise domain architecture development and governance
- Establish guardrails for modularity, buy vs build, SaaS vs custom development, and lifecycle management
- Develop and maintain ABB-wide architecture standards, guidelines, and processes
- Assess current IT landscape and define future-state architecture aligning with strategy
- Oversee architectural reviews and act as escalation point for cross-domain decisions
- Guide enterprise application portfolio management, including investment, modernization, decommissioning, and consolidation
- Monitor compliance of architecture landscape and flag implications for planning and roadmaps
- 10+ years in application or enterprise architecture in large, decentralized organizations
- Proven track record in application modernization and portfolio rationalization
- Experience influencing architecture without direct delivery ownership
- Expertise in architecture patterns (monolith, microservices, modular monolith), SaaS/COTS integration, domain-led design
- Lifecycle management and hybrid/multi-cloud application environments
- Strong architectural judgement and pragmatic decision-making
- Executive-level communication and storytelling
- Ability to balance enterprise consistency with local setup
- Comfortable facilitating trade-offs across cost, speed, and risk
