Maintenance Worker Helper NA-05.

Duties

• Assists in the maintenance and repair of building interiors. Patches and paints walls, replaces faucet washers, light bulbs and fuses.
• Un-stops sinks and toilet bowls. Hangs electrical fixtures and repairs screens and storm sashes. Makes minor repairs to furniture and woodwork.
• May occasionally assist in moving furniture or refinishing the appearance.
• Assists in the maintenance and repair of building exteriors. Prepares surfaces for painting by applying sealing compounds and primers.
• Assists in the maintenance and repair of the grounds. Cuts grass, plants, trims hedges, trees and shrubbery. Dumps trash, waters plants and sweeps walkways, and may be required to shovel snow.

Requirements

Conditions of employment

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Must be willing and able to perform work while standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing and stooping.
• Must be willing and able to carry equipment, tools and supplies weighing from 40 to 80 pounds
• Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts to include nights and weekends.

A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following

• Have knowledge of wood working techniques and basic shop mathematics. (ex: add, subtract, multiply, etc...)
• Know how to operate hand and power tools and measuring devices of the carpentry and painting trades.
• The ability to read and follow basic blueprints and sketches.
• Know how to prepare standard surfaces for coating methods and techniques.
• The ability to operate a motor vehicle, can you operate a vehicle in a safe manner.
• The ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Allowances and Differentials

• This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
