D-Orbit is looking for an AIV engineer to join our growing MAIT/AIV engineering team. As integral part of the group, you will be involved in the Assembly, Integration, and Verification processes of already flight-qualified platforms, such as the ION Satellite Carrier Vehicle. Your ultimate objective as an AIV engineer is to ensure the spacecraft successfully passes all verification steps and is certified ready-for-flight.

You will follow at system-level the whole lifecycle of D-Orbit's spacecraft, focusing mainly on AIV activities, from the beginning of the assembly of the spacecraft and until it is ready for flight. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with D-Orbit's manufacturing team and all systems and subsystems designers, you will be tasked with preparing and maintaining all necessary AIV procedures and plans as well as proposing new ways of testing and assembling spacecrafts. Moreover, you will supervise and support the activities in the cleanroom, lead and perform critical tests on the spacecrafts and support the Quality department during the investigation of nonconformances.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

·       Supporting and leading testing of subsystems and satellites under clean room conditions

·       Create and maintain satellites and subsystems tests procedures.

·       Propose and design new tests and set-ups

·       Work closely with the quality team for inspections, investigations and non-conformance

·       Technical Input to  project / product to ensure that new process and test methods are optimized for AIV activities.

·       Definition and Design of tooling for manufacturing execution

·       Authoring of technical documents

 

This role will involve occasional travel to supplier and test facilities and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

 

 

Requirements:

 

 

•       1-3 years of professional experience working as System or AIV Engineer within the Aerospace industry.

·       Knowledge of System Engineering and knowledge of spacecraft subsystems

·       Hands-on experience with electronic laboratory equipment and tools (oscilloscope, power supply, electronic load, ...)

·       Experience in writing test procedures

·       Proficient in working with Linux environments

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·       Quality driven approach with high attention to detail.

·       Knowledge of Health and Safety principles and their application to the specific environment.

·       Proactive attitude and ability to work in a team.

·       Professional proficiency in English.

  • Degree in Aerospace/Space Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or related discipline

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

·       Knowledge of the relevant ECSS standards for the Space sector  

·       Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of Test (functional testing, Electrical bonding/isolation, Vibration, TVAC)

·       Previous experience in a space university project (e.g. CubeSat project) is a strong asset

·       Knowledge in RF test equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, VNA) is a strong asset.

·       Knowledge in Python coding is a strong asset.

·       Experience with data interfaces such as CAN, RS422/485, I2C, SPI is a strong asset.

·       Fluency in Italian.
