Database Engineer

Job Description:

Trigyn has a contractual opportunity for a Database Engineer (OpenStreetMap and PostgreSQL). This resource will be working in Brindisi, Italy.

Job Responsibilities:

oManage global OpenStreetMap (OSM) database replica based on PostgreSQL, including the design, implementation and enhancements as necessary.
oMonitor daily updates of the in-house replica through regular (daily) diffs.
oOptimize and improve the performance of databases and queries.
oManage PostgreSQL objects (roles, permissions, tables, partitioned tables, views, materialized views, schemas, functions, procedures, triggers, backup, restore, data replication and synchronization mechanisms) and perform troubleshooting in case of issues
oManage geodata using open-source geospatial routines such as: ogr2ogr, gdal, osmium, osmosis, imposm and osm2pgsql

•Skills/Experience:

oExpertise of PostgreSQL and PostGIS database administration is required.
oProficiency in Linux, Linux Shell Scripting and Python is required.
oExpertise on OSM data model (geographic, historic, data formats) and other geospatial data is desirable.
oProficiency in at least one of the GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS Desktop) is desirable.
oBasic knowledge of Docker containers, LUA and R is desirable.
