About the Role

The Proposal Engineer collaborates with cross functional teams from Commercial, Process Technology and Project Delivery and is responsible for developing cost effective Nutrition & Health systems proposals which are based on proven designs that meet or exceed customer needs. The Proposal Engineer will follow all processes and procedures and ensure that the systems proposals, which generally include costs estimates, P&ID and layout drawings, proposal text, and project schedules are completed in a compliant and timely manner.

You would be a part of the EMEA team that currently consists of 9 Proposal Engineers, and you would be reporting to the Head of Systems Proposal Management based in Denmark.

About Your Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with the Commercial function to ensure customer requirements are clearly defined and understood and that a detailed RFQ analysis has been completed as required. Understand and follow all SPX FLOW internal governance and proposal approval processes. Collaborate with Commercial, Process Technology and Project Delivery functions to develop process solutions including process flow sheets and P&ID’s and ensure proposed solution and scope development align with customer needs and expectations. Use calculation software for equipment sizing. Prepare the detailed costing (equipment & services) using the appropriate tool. Build relationships with internal subcontractors to obtain the necessary sub-quotations or cost estimates. Consult external subcontractors in accordance with Supply Chain management IDEF processes and procedures. Organize the necessary design review - quotation review - cost review (TCR). Identify and share all potential risks during TCR (cost, scope, acceptance criteria, . Work with Engineering and Project Management to create detailed project schedules. Ensure project risk is identified and mitigated inside the proposal process. Support completion and review of all documents required for internal stage gate submission. Ensure the RFQ deviation list properly reflects the scope and limits. Manage internal communication between departments and / or Business Units towards building one SPX FLOW proposal. Ensure proposals are submitted to internal and external customers in a right and performant timing. Log all cost, price, and scope changes between proposal revisions. Maintain a strong relationship and trust with Commercial organization. Support development of CVO quotes with Project Management & Commercial. Participate in handover meetings and in closure meetings at the end of a project.

What Do You Need

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Engineering, Food Technology or a related discipline). 3+ years of experience with proposals, process engineering, project management or equivalent (preferably Nutrition & Health industry). Knowledge and practice of the overall project delivery concepts of engineering, supply chain, installation, and commissioning processes to ensure on time, on cost and at high quality delivery (preferably Nutrition & Health industry). Knowledge in preparing and executing project proposals. Familiarity with common costing and reporting tools like SAP, EXAPTA etc. Good MS Office and AutoCAD skills. Fluent  English  and  Italian.  Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Financial awareness and understanding of key cost components and margin build up. Good attention to detail, able to interpret detailed technical specifications and contractual requirements. Quality focus, commercial and legal awareness. Strong interpersonal and team working skills. Structured approach and a good overview.
