SHIPBUILDING SPECIALIST

Summary

You will serve as a Shipbuilding Specialist in the Waterfront Operations of FORWARD SHIP SUSTAINMENT NAPLESItaly.

Duties

Help

• You will analyze condition found reports to evaluate request for contract modifications and change in orders.
• You will conduct analysis of industrial control systems to enable accurate assessment of adjustments (e.g., design, operation, maintenance).
• You will recommend solutions to problems associated with shipbuilding.
• You will monitor contractor's performance to determine compliance with contract specifications.
• You will compile written reports to provide status or project updates.
• You will develop detailed work specifications and statements of work for depot-level Ship repair.
• You will be a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for assigned contracts.
• You will participate in the Advanced Planning process, and ensure proper screening of work.

• This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

• You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• The incumbent will be required to pass a near distance vision test annually (J-1 Jaeger or equivalent) with no color deficiency.
• Incumbent may be required to be National Association Corrosion Engineers Coating Inspector Program l (NACE CIPl) qualified for paint coating inspections.
• Incumbent may be required to be Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) qualified or complete Weld/Braze Workmanship training for welding inspections.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:

• Recommending alternatives to assist in solving technical problems associated with all facets of ship maintenance.
• Developing work specifications, detailed reports and statements of work to support the planning of shipbuilding, ship repair, and modernization availabilities.
