Junior Robotics Software Engineer

At ALTO Robotics, we develop autonomous mobile robots designed for real industrial environments.

We're looking for a Junior Robotics Software Engineer who is eager to start their career working on cutting-edge robotics products. You'll become part of a small engineering team where you'll have the opportunity to learn, contribute and grow by working directly on real robotic systems.

This opportunity is particularly suited to recent graduates or candidates with up to 1–2 years of experience who are ready to join us immediately.

🔧 What you will do

• Develop software for autonomous mobile robots
• Support the integration of navigation, localization and robot control modules
• Test and debug software on real robotic platforms
• Collaborate on the integration of software with electronic and mechanical systems
• Work closely with external robotics consultants and experienced engineers, contributing to software development and learning from their expertise
• Participate in system validation and field deployment
• Work closely with our robotics engineering team on product development

🧩 What we're looking for

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering or similar
• Good knowledge of C++ and/or Python
• Basic knowledge of Linux
• Familiarity with ROS2 or willingness to learn it quickly
• Strong motivation to work on real robotic products
• Practical, hands-on attitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

Professional experience is not required. Relevant university projects, internships or personal robotics projects will be positively considered.

➕ Nice to have

• Academic projects involving mobile robots
• Knowledge of SLAM, navigation or motion planning
• Experience with Gazebo, RViz or other simulation tools
• Basic understanding of embedded systems or industrial communication protocols
• Experience with Git

📍 Workplace

• Location: Genoa, Italy
• Working model: Hybrid (regular on-site presence required)

📄 Employment details

• Contract: Full-time, permanent employment (subject to successful probation period)
• Expected start date: As soon as possible
• Availability required: Immediate or within a short notice period

💰 Compensation

• Annual Gross Salary (RAL): €28,000–€30,000, depending on education, skills and any relevant internship or project experience.
