Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in aeronautical Mechanical Transmissions for 3^ Parties, Helicopter’s and VTOL applications.

We are looking for a talented engineer, expected to perform design activities related to gearbox static structures design.

The position is within the Engineering Section dealing with the New Product Introduction process from concept design to product detailed definition, certification and initial production support for high power density NPI programs.

Job Description

Essential responsibilities

The Helicopter's Static Structures Design Engineer utilizes expertise to develop and execute objectives for self and others, solve problems and have the ability to affect short-term and long-term business goals.

In this role the candidate will:

  • Build and strengthen technical knowledge expertise in complex aeronautical gearbox static structures components (e.g. light alloy housing castings, adapters, forgings).

  • Capture system level requirements (engine / aircraft) and flow-down to component definition deploying the required deep integration (cored fluidic lines, load path definition, optimal scavenge geometries and more).

  • Design the components identifying alternatives, agreeing upon design CTQs, scoring and down-selecting optimal solution to achieve product performance/cost/weight matching manufacturing capabilities.

  • Build and strengthen technical knowledge expertise in legacy and novel manufacturing processes, identifying component validation needs. Proactively support and coordinate the activities with other departments and suppliers

  • Issue the technical documentation relative to the component design according to engineering policies and procedures (presentations as well as analysis reports)

  • Contribute to and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews

  • Support source technological substantiation and non-conformances assessment (MRB)

  • Support activities related to development findings, components performance and investigations (test requests, test data postprocess, laboratories investigation)

  • Use of design tools: CAD as Unigraphics NX, and CAE as Nastran, Ansys and in-house S/Ws

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities

  • Clear thinking, diligent approach, target oriented; curiosity and passion for mechanical design

  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g. Unigraphics NX) and CAE tools (e.g. Nastran, Ansys)

  • English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oral.

  • Work Visa, according with local regulation, is required

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of aeronautical power gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologies

  • Knowledge of gear stress analysis (LTCA) specific tools

  • Previous experiences in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
