POSITION OVERVIEW
As the Lead Computational Designer at WOOD-SKIN, you will not only shape the future of surface design but will also immerse yourself deeply within the intricate realms of digital fabrication in architecture. This position offers the unparalleled chance to collaborate closely with our production team and R&D lab, pushing the very boundaries of what's achievable in the field. You'll work alongside expert digital fabrication technicians and will be at the heart of operations where cutting-edge technologies - from CNC machinery, and 3D printing, to laser cutting - come to life. If you have an appetite for innovation and a passion for pioneering new frontiers, this role is your stage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and contribute to ongoing design projects, ensuring timely delivery and the highest quality standards.
Develop, innovate, and optimize tools to enhance WOOD-SKIN’s software toolkit.
Collaborate intimately with architects, designers, and the internal team to ideate and realize design solutions.
Stay at the pulse of the latest trends and technologies in computational design, ensuring WOOD-SKIN remains at the forefront of the industry.
Mentor and guide junior designers, nurturing a culture of knowledge-sharing and growth.
REQUIREMENTS
- A burning passion and enthusiasm for interior design, digital fabrication, materials, and the ever-evolving landscape of the 4.0 Industry/Manufacturing.
- Proficiency in computational design tools and software, with particular emphasis on Rhino + Grasshopper.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude paired with the ability to think outside the box.
- A communicative individual who thrives in collaboration and can articulate ideas effectively.
- An unwavering attention to detail coupled with a discerning eye for aesthetics.
- A solid understanding of architectural design principles.
- Technical and practical knowledge of wood-based materials, joining techniques, and prevailing industry standards.
- Fluency in professional English; and proficiency in French would be a welcomed advantage.
