The End-to-End Navigation System department of Thales Alenia Space in Italy is looking for a Navigation System Engineer that, reporting directly to the Head of Department , can:

  • Support the execution of exciting programs (GALILEO, Moonlight, LEO PNTIod, etc.);
  • Contribute to the acquisition of new business opportunities;
  • Foster Research & Development activities in the satellite navigation domain.

As a System Engineer at Thales, you will:

  • Analyze and understand customer needs through advanced studies, simulations, mock-ups, models, prototypes, etc.;
  • Formalize specifications and architecture used to propose the best solution/product to clients;
  • Prepare and carry out integration, verification, and validation tests;
  • Define test plans and procedures for system-level testing;
  • Ensure the technical integration and coherence of the system design, interfaces, and performances;
  • Design the architecture of the command and control system;
  • Demonstrate the solution to the customer.

Moreover, you will:

  • Contribute to the growth of the engineering department activities (e.g., acquisition of new contracts, definition of the strategy for the evolution of the competences of the department, etc.);
  • Contribute to R&D activities through the proposal and execution of new studies;
  • Support interaction with the University through the definition and follow-up of thesis, stage, etc.;
  • Have the opportunity to participate in international meetings and conferences held worldwide.

Language: Fluent English, spoken and written.

  • A master’s degree in electronic, telecommunications, computer science, aerospace engineering, or equivalent;
  • Knowledge about basic telecommunication principles (propagation error, access schema, modulations, etc.);
  • Familiarity with the usage of System Engineering Tools (e.g., MBSE Tools, Requirement Management Tools, Simulation Tools, Matlab, etc.);
  • Knowledge of Satellite Navigation and/or Communication Systems, with at least 5 years of experience in the field;
  • Experience with leading engineering projects or activities;
  • Capability to adapt and react to change;
  • Distinct propensity to teamwork and problem-solving, proactivity, and attitude to find innovative solutions.
