Description

As new R&D Electrical Engineer , you will join our Global Multi-Phy sic Simulation ( GLOMUS ) network team in the Swiss Technology Center of HITACHI-Energy. You will be part of a group of key people with specific expertise in the fields of electrical, structural, acoustic , thermo-mechanic and fluid-dynamics analys e s, simulation and testing.

As part of our global R&D community including Technology Centers and Research Centers worldwide, you will contribute to support all factories in the PG Dry, Traction and Distribution Transformers on innovative and challenging research projects .

You will focus on developing new technologies and products, optimizing existing ones and on supporting different engineering offices around the world.

Your responsibilities

  • Study of current state of art in the field of 2D and 3D simulation of transformers

  • Analysis of performance of different parameters of dry transformers by means of 2D and 3D electromagnetic FEM calculations

  • Develop new automations for the assessment of products through electromagnetic simulations coupled with structural, thermomechanical and acoustic simulations

  • Run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products and simulate their expected performances

  • Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products

  • Lead product and technology development projects in the field of Dry, Traction and Oil Distribution Transformer, delivering results on time and on budget at agreed scope and quality

  • Support the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to engineering department by writing design rules, preparing trainings and collaborating with design tools team

  • Provide technical support to other departments when needed (engineering, product management, marketing and sales etc.)

  • Coaching, mentoring and supervising as well as training other engineers in your area of expertise

Your background

  • PhD / MSc education in Electri cal Engineering field

  • Existing work experience in Electrical Engineering with particular focus on transformer design

  • Advanced knowledge of transformer design and prediction of relevant performance such as leakage fields, stray losses, no-load losses, short-circuit forces , mutual inductances, and similar

  • Experience in the finite element analysis and in the use of the following software: ANSYS, Maxwell, COMSOL

  • Experience in electromechanical and electrothermal modeling tools

  • Knowledge of the following programming languages: Matlab, Visual Basic

  • Experience in electric testing of transformers

  • Proven leadership skills as well as experience in coaching and training stakeholders

  • Project management skills paired with an a ction and result oriented mindset

  • Excellent communication skills in English and team and innovation spirit

  • Willingness to travel
