Head of Market Access – Italy Location: Milan
Summary The Head of Market Access, reporting to the VP, General Manager, will play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring Italian patients gain timely and sustainable access to Madrigal’s innovative therapies. This role defines and executes the national market access and pricing strategy, drives engagement with Italian authorities and payers, and shapes the local access environment in alignment with Madrigal’s global access vision. Working collaboratively with Medical, Regulatory, HEOR, Commercial, and Regional and Global Access colleagues, this leader will help translate science into access, ensuring the value of innovation is recognized across the Italian healthcare system. Acting as an enterprise leader, the incumbent will demonstrate patient focus in every decision, act with an owner mindset, champion innovation, and foster collaboration to drive impact and advance Madrigal’s purpose of leading the fight against MASH.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the market access and pricing strategy for Italy, with primary accountability for securing national reimbursement and appropriate access for Rezdiffra.
- Lead the AIFA pricing and reimbursement process, including dossier development, authority interactions and negotiations, in close collaboration with the General Manager and Regional and Global Access teams.
- Create strategies to successfully navigate the current negotiation environment, including cost-containment pressures and MFN considerations, appropriately positioning Rezdiffra to achieve reimbursement that reflects its value for patients with advanced MASH.
- Lead key stakeholder engagement to communicate the urgency of treating patients with advanced MASH and build awareness of the therapeutic benefits Rezdiffra can offer, developing strong relationships with AIFA, payers, clinicians, KOLs and patient organizations.
- Partner with Medical, Regulatory, HEOR, Commercial and Access colleagues to develop compelling value propositions, evidence plans and market access tools that support reimbursement and payer engagement.
- Develop and execute early access strategies, including opportunities such as CNN, to support timely patient access ahead of full reimbursement.
- Prepare for effective regional access following national reimbursement, building the stakeholder relationships, tools and plans required to translate the national outcome into patient access across Italy.
- Monitor the evolving Italian pricing, reimbursement, policy and competitive environment and adapt access strategies accordingly.
- Build and lead the Italian Market Access team as the organization evolves, establishing clear priorities, capabilities and ways of working to support national and regional access.
- Serve as a member of the Country Leadership Team, contributing to launch readiness, brand strategy and long-term market shaping while fostering cross-functional collaboration and ensuring compliance.

Qualifications
- University degree in Life Sciences, Health Economics, Public Health, Business, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of Market Access, Pricing, Reimbursement, or HEOR experience within the Italian pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector.
- Proven success navigating AIFA pricing and reimbursement processes for innovative medicines, including direct involvement in pricing negotiations.
