WHO WE ARE Aira is a pioneer in next-generation domestic energy. Founded in 2022 in Sweden by the Vargas Group, we are headquartered in Stockholm. Our Scandinavian tradition permeates our brand and underlies everything we offer to our customers. We are already present in the Italian market and in the second half of 2023, we will also be operating in Germany and the United Kingdom. In 2024, production will commence at our recently acquired world-class production facility in Wroclaw, Poland.

THE PRODUCT We offer cutting-edge technology for combined heating and hot water. With our state-of-the-art heat pumps, we can reduce CO2 emissions associated with home heating by 75% to 100%. Air-to-water heat pumps make the most of outside air energy and a small amount of electricity to ensure the perfect indoor temperature.

About the role:


The Head of Design Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the local design engineering team (located in Lazio, Marche and Lombardia), driving innovation, efficiency, and quality.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including central R&D, Service Operations, and Operational Excellence to ensure seamless integration and successful delivery of exceptional heat pump systems.


Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of design engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute the system design strategy, aligning it with the company's goals and market demands.
  • Drive innovation by monitoring industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in heat pump engineering and design.
  • Collaborate with the central R&D team to translate market and customer requirements into innovative and feasible system designs.
  • Establish and maintain design standards, guidelines, and processes.
  • Ensure appropriate guidance and technical expertise is provided to Clean Energy Experts for the purposes of delivering outstanding customer guidance and developing accurate quotations and system designs.
  • Take overall responsibility for ensuring that all system designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain a robust design control process, including design verification, validation, and risk assessment.
  • Foster crossfunctional collaboration, working closely with manufacturers, operational excellence, supply chain, service operations.
  • Continuously assess and improve the design engineering team's capabilities, including skills development, training, and recruitment efforts.

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in design engineering, with a strong background in the energetic sector.
  • Experience with process improvement and process standardization.
  • Experience with country standards and procedures (Italy).
  • Previous leadership experience, with a track record of coordinating and developing engineering teams.
  • Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Foster a crossfunctional feedback culture.
