GBV Associate

All UNHCR staff members are responsible for carrying out their duties as stated in their job description. They should do this within their assigned responsibilities, following the established rules and guidelines of UNHCR, which include the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions, and relevant accountability frameworks. Moreover, staff members must fulfill their obligations in a manner that aligns with the core competencies, functional skills, cross-functional expertise, and UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity.

Duties:

• Assist in organizing and conducting coordination meetings of the GBV sub-working group or related groups chaired by other organizations.
• Support the creation of coordination tools like referral pathways;
• Participate in safety audits and other pertinent assessments.
• Analyze GBV trends and gaps, including helping with the preparation of briefing notes and analytical reports.
• Approach other sectors/units to aid in GBV risk management under the guidance of higher-ranked officers. Assist in developing interventions for GBV prevention, risk management, and response.
• Provide technical advice to partners and government officials on GBV minimum standards under the direction of the supervisor.
• Conduct monitoring of GBV partners through field visits and reporting; Contribute to donor reports;
• Deliver GBV case management services for high-risk survivors and complex cases and liaise with other relevant units/partners;
• Supervise UNHCR staff involved in GBV case management, offering guidance and implementing staff care strategies;
• Support GBV capacity enhancement efforts, including training on GBV disclosure and referrals.
• Ensure that the preferences of survivors are given priority following a survivor-centered approach.
• Enforce adherence to protection standard operating procedures for GBV and related minimum standards and Guiding Principles.
• Identify and address risks and opportunities affecting objectives in the designated area. Base decisions on risk assessment within the functional scope of work. Report risks, issues, and concerns to a supervisor or relevant colleagues.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma; or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher.

• Human rights, Social Anthropology, Social Work,
• Law, International Development, Social Sciences, or related field.

Language Requirements:

• For International Professional and Field Service positions: Proficiency in English and the UN working language of the duty station if different from English.
• For National Professional roles: Proficiency in English and the UN working language of the duty station if different from English, and knowledge of the local language.
• For General Service positions: Proficiency in English and/or the UN working language of the duty station if different from English.
