Job Description:

The Software Tester Petrel is responsible for testing and validating the functionalities of the Petrel platform which is used for geoscience and reservoir engineering. The role involves designing test plans executing tests identifying bugs and ensuring the smooth integration of seismic and well log data. The tester will collaborate closely with development teams to ensure that all issues are resolved and the software meets industry standards for performance and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed test plans scenarios and test cases for Petrel software.
  • Execute functional integration and performance testing for Petrels geoscience and reservoir workflows.
  • Validate seismic well log and reservoir data accuracy in Petrel.
  • Identify document and report software defects and track them to resolution.
  • Test various Petrel functionalities including data loading modeling and simulation features.
  • Work closely with developers and geoscientists to address issues and improve software quality.
  • Perform regression testing after bug fixes or feature updates.
  • Ensure software compatibility with thirdparty plugins and external datasets.
  • Contribute to test automation efforts to streamline testing processes.
  • Adhere to software testing best practices and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in software testing ideally within geoscience or oil and gas domains.
  • Strong knowledge of Petrel software and geoscience workflows (seismic well logs and reservoir data).
  • Familiarity with testing tools defect tracking systems and automation frameworks.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of reservoir engineering concepts and geoscience data analysis.
  • Software testing certifications such as ISTQB are a plus.
